Teen Trips
Thank you for your interest in Our Synagogue partnered Teen Trips for 2024-2025. The educational value and social experiences which our teens receive by participating in these trips is unparalleled. Temple Emanu-El is committed to ensuring that any teen who wishes to travel has the opportunity to do so. For that reason, the out-of-pocket cost to families is graciously subsidized, and additional scholarships may be available for those who qualify. Financial expense should not be the deciding factor in a family’s decision. Please note: there are two forms that must be submitted in order to be fully registered for our teen immersive experiences. Once the Google form has been submitted an Acceptiva link for payment will be shared with you in a separate email. Reach out to Em Besthoff at with any questions.
L’Taken Social Justice Seminar, Washington, DC
9th-12th grade students are invited to join us in partnership with the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC) to share your voice on social justice topics and make an impact as we visit Capitol Hill. This trip will depart the early morning of Friday, January 10 and return in the early evening of Monday, January 13. This trip is offered by Emanu-El to our Emanu-El teens.
The RAC L’Taken is designed to both expose our teens to a variety of public policy issues and explore Jewish values that inform the Reform Movement’s Advocacy around these issues. These topics include antisemitism, economic justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and more. Throughout the weekend, we will work with the RAC staff to gain the knowledge and tools to write an effective, persuasive, and passionate speech on a topic of our choice to present when you visit the offices of your Senators and Representatives on the Monday of the program. We will also be leaving time to visit the National Mall, Holocaust Museum and/or the US Smithsonian. To learn more about this opportunity, including viewing a sample schedule, visit RAC online.
