Women’s Auxiliary Webinar: Secular Jewish Hungarian Architecture & Architects

The Jewish Quarter of Budapest is one of the most famous and one of the best-preserved Jewish quarters in Europe. However, ironically many of the buildings that served the Jewish community were not even designed by Jews. Join Professor Barry Goldsmith as he takes us on a journey to learn about Budapest’s many great-unknown ancient synagogues designed by Jewish Architects. We will also visit great late 19th-century and early 20th-century secular buildings designed by Jewish architects to be enjoyed by all. From department stores to theaters to public buildings, even churches and the Budapest Zoo! These buildings run the gamut of styles from Art Nouveau to Art Deco to Modernist and individualist styles that defy categorization.

Prof. Goldsmith’s career spans travel and culture — lecturing at museums from the Smithsonian to the Hermitage, embassies — as well lecturing at travel shows around the world — about the world. Prof. Goldsmith leads press trips around the world for hotel, airlines and government tourist boards.

Register no later than 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 20th to receive the link for the webinar.
