The Streicker Center Presents: “Gay Chorus Deep South – Singing Their Way to Respect”

GAY CHORUS DEEP SOUTH
Singing Their Way to Respect

This is a free event, but we ask that you kindly register in advance here.

What happened when the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus teamed up with the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir in the wake of the 2016 election for a journey from Mississippi to Tennessee?

Not what you might imagine because the sublime spirit of music, the power of community and a little drag trumped all expectation.

Sheila Nevins, Executive Producer at MTV Documentary Films, will screen the award-winning documentary, Gay Chorus Deep South, and discuss its impact with:

Ashlé Blow — Chorus Member
David Charles Rodrigues — Director
Tim Seelig — Conductor
