The Orchestra of St. Luke’s: Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos

For almost half a century, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s has captivated audiences with a repertoire spanning the Baroque to the contemporary. And on 36 occasions, the Grammy-winning orchestra has done so in the historic sanctuary of Temple Emanu-El!

The tradition continues.

This Fall’s program features several of Johann Sebastian Bach’s beloved Brandenburg Concertos, a gift presented to the Margrave of Brandenburg in 1721 that stands as a testament to the composer’s inventive genius. Written in the Italian Concerto Grosso style, they’re considered pinnacles of the Baroque repertoire, and the performance will feature several of the orchestra’s virtuosic members as soloists.

  • JS BACH Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G Major, BWV 1049
  • JS BACH Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, BWV 1048
  • JS BACH Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D Major, BWV 1050
  • JS BACH Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F Major, BWV 1047

Made possible by the generous support of Temple Emanu-El members Robert B. Menschel and Richard Menschel.
