Does my opinion count? And what is my opinion anyway??
Teen Community Racial Justice Discussion Group
Monday, October 19, 7:00-8:00pm
Open to all Emanu-El 8th-12th Graders
Our next peer-led Racial Justice conversation will allow teens to reflect on events brought to us by the year 2020. Feeling powerless as the upcoming election draws closer? Frustrated that your voice can’t be heard? Not sure what you would say if it could? Join in the discussion to share your thoughts, frustrations and ideas and allow us all to find ways to connect and move forward towards racial equity. There are still ways that you can play a part in the democratic process, even if you are not old enough to vote—including learning about the issue of voter suppression that still plagues us today. Whether this is a first conversation or one of many, we encourage teens to join us and gain an understanding of different perspectives and give them a space to grow.
