Tashlich 5784

Tashlich is a ritual observed during the High Holy Days on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah. The word “tashlich” comes from the Hebrew word “תשליך,” which means “you shall cast away.” During the ceremony, participants symbolically cast their mistakes, regrets, burdens and shortcomings into a natural body of water.

After meeting at the Fifth Avenue Sanctuary doors we will walk together to the pond in Central Park to gather for welcoming words, a blessing and time for personal reflection and communal connection. Please note that, because bread can be harmful to aquatic ecosystems, it is our custom to use environmentally friendly material such as duck feed for tashlich.
