Streicker Center: Integrity First for America: Holding White Nationalists Accountable

Once in a generation, a trial can help shift the trajectory of the nation.

This generation’s trial begins in three weeks.

The landmark lawsuit filed by Integrity First for America alleges that the organizers of the 2017 Unite the Right rally never expected a peaceful demonstration. Rather, as the evidence shows, they spent months planning a weekend of violence that has served as a harbinger of the extremism plaguing our country.

If successful, Sines v. Kessler will strike a devastating blow against the white supremacist movement and forge a legal path forward against violent hate.

In February 2020, the Integrity First for America team behind the suit joined us to discuss their strategy for using civil action to dismantle the infrastructure at the center of that movement. Now, on the eve of the trial, they return to talk about the progress of the case and how much more urgent it has become in the wake of the election-related extremism that culminated in the Capitol attack; a record number of hate crimes targeting the Jewish and Asian American communities; and reports from the federal government warning that white supremacy and far-right extremism constitute our nation’s most dire domestic security threat.
