Shabbat Service with Special Guest Orly Erez-Likhovski, Director of the IRAC

Temple Emanu-El welcomes Orly Erez-Likhovski, Director of the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC), who will discuss protecting civil and religious liberties in Israel at our Morning Shabbat Service.

Orly Erez-Likhovski has served as an attorney at IRAC since 2004, as the Director of its Legal Department from 2014-2021, and as the Director of IRAC since 2021, bringing about significant legal achievements such as making gender segregation on public transportation illegal, ending the Orthodox monopoly on state-funded salaries to rabbis, filing (and winning) the first-ever class action suit regarding exclusion of women, and disqualifying racist candidates from running for Israel’s parliament. She holds a degree in law with a focus on human rights law from Columbia University in New York, and previously interned for the Supreme Court.

The Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC) is dedicated to securing civil rights for a just and egalitarian Israel based on Israeli law and Jewish tradition. Through advocacy and action, IRAC works toward advancing equality in public, strengthening Israel’s democracy, advancing freedom of and from religion, advancing racial equality and combating hate, protecting the rights of converts and immigrants, and ensuring state recognition and equal status for Reform and Conservative rabbis, synagogues, and institutions.
