About this Service:

Hallelujah to the World
Celebrating Israel at 73
with Gali Atari

Five days after Prime Minister Menachem Begin and President Anwar Sadat signed the 1979 peace treaty, Israel exploded in a second “Halleluyah” sung by Gali Atari in the Eurovision Song Contest. The song, which captured the euphoria of the moment, won the world’s biggest competition, and its simple message about singing with one heart has made it a classic worldwide. Atari will reprise the inspiring anthem, in English and in Hebrew, as we celebrate Israel’s 73rd Independence Day.

With special remarks by Israel Nitzan, Acting Counsel-General in New York.

This program is sponsored by the Tisch family.
A partnership of Temple Emanu-El and Temple Israel of the City of New York.
