Advocating for Mental Wellness: Teen-Parent Mental Health Forum

Sunday, April 3, 2022 | 4:00 PM
Via Zoom
Open to Emanu-El 8th-12th graders and their parents

While the past few years have brought to light the importance of mental wellness, many of us still remain unsure what this really means. What can we do to strengthen our own mental health? How can we recognize the signs when others are suffering—especially when it is our own children? And what tools are necessary to support teen mental wellness? This virtual event will feature concurrent sessions for parents and teens led by John Orr, Associate Vice President for Children, Adolescent and Family Services and Ruth Nava, Senior Youth Peer Advocate, both at Vibrant Emotional Health. Parents will learn how to identify signs of mental health issues in their teens, resources for what to do once recognized and ways to support the overall mental wellness of their children. Teens will concentrate on ways to support their peers, how to make a wellness plan and learning skills to empower teens to advocate for their own mental health. Please join us for this important event as we work together to destigmatize and support youths struggling with their mental health.

Emanu-El is proud to offer this program in partnership with Vibrant, generously funded by the Carol Weinberg Garcia Fund.

Please contact Rachel Brumberg, Associate Director of Lifelong Learning: Teen Community and Leadership, at with questions, to RSVP and to receive the Zoom link.
