Emanu-El is Heading Downtown

In Fall 2022, Emanu-El will open a satellite location within the General Theological Seminary at 440 West 21st Street (between Ninth and Tenth Avenues) in Chelsea. We hope you’ll join us at this new campus for semester-long and drop-in programs for young families.

Emanu-El Downtown: New Year Festival

Join us for a little bim-bam and challah to get kids into the Shabbat spirit. Through movement, music, and crafts, children and their parents/caregivers will come together as a community to celebrate Shabbat.

Downtown New Parents Group

A supportive group for new parents of children up to 12 months old. There is no bigger change in life than the experience of becoming a parent, but with the abundance of joy that new babies bring to our lives, there are also challenges! We invite you to join in this supportive, warm environment with other new parents.

Downtown Toddlers and Twos Group

For parents with children 12 to 21 months old. Come explore helpful parenting skills, such as negotiating family roles, effective co-parenting, establishing positive and consistent routines, incorporating Jewish ritual into your family life and finding a healthy balance as a parent.

A longtime New York Family Favorite, Ramblin’ Dan’s Freewheelin’ Band provides high-energy and engaging classes driven by playful musicality and skillful guitar work. Our priorities are having fun, providing a pressure-free and comforting atmosphere, and helping kids gain confidence. You’ll hear everything from Rock ‘n’ Roll, Reggae, Funk, Hip Hop, Folk and Bluegrass. Using music to lead the way, kids will jam along on instruments, use various props for activities, read song-based books, learn sign language, do animal and imaginative play, and, of course, clap, dance and sing along.
