Tikkun Olam volunteers came together this February to assemble 75 Mishloach Manot packages for the Jewish Chaplains Council and 96 packages for East Harlem Community Partnership/Union Settlement. The Mishloach Manot packages included Purim treats such as Hamantaschen, candy and groggers to celebrate. The packages for East Harlem Community Partnership/Union Settlement featured hats, gloves, socks, arts supplies and toys.

Tikkun Olam supported two wonderful organizations through its mitzvahs. The Jewish Chaplains Council works to safeguard the rights, fulfill the spiritual needs, combat the loneliness and isolation and honor the service of Jews in the United States armed forces. Additionally, East Harlem Community Partnership/Union Settlement works on building strong relationships among residents and between residents and community organizations and institutions to increase trust and community capacity. As one of the largest settlement houses in New York, East Harlem Community Partnership/Union Settlement serves more than 10,000 East Harlem residents of all ages each year through its education, health, senior services, youth development, childcare, counseling and economic development programs.

We would like to express our gratitude to our volunteers Michael Wachs, Eileen Ames, Barbara Sherr, Elisabeth Stam, Debbie Halperin, Judy Kostin and Lynn Hamlin. Their commitment to helping those less fortunate is a true Mitzvah.
