Stitch’n Time, Tikkun Olam‘s knitting and crocheting outreach program, donated 200 sets of handmade hats and scarves to Educational Alliance’s Knots of Love initiative at the Manny Cantor Center. Knots of Love collects handmade hats and scarves for families who are seeking asylum and currently housed in the Lower East Side during the winter.
The Manny Cantor Center is part of and the flagship center for Educational Alliance, a nonprofit that partners with and brings together diverse communities in Lower Manhattan, offering individuals and families high-quality, multi-generational programs and critical services that enhance well-being and socioeconomic opportunities through a network of 15 community centers on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and East Village. For 130 years, Educational Alliance continues to offer programs focusing on education, health and wellness, arts and culture, and civic engagement for people of all ages and backgrounds, working for and with their neighborhoods to create experiences that make a difference in many lives, and in the world.
Dearest Neighbors,
We have received the 200 sets of handmade hats and scarves delivered by the Temple Emanu-El Stitch’n Time Club to Educational Alliance’s Knots of Love project. On behalf of the staff of the Manny Cantor Center and the members of our community who will be blessed by your generosity, I want to extend my deepest appreciation for this beautiful donation.
Thank you so very much, and happiest of new years to you all!
Sincerely,
Xiomara A. Maldonado
