Tikkun Olam in the News

November 14, 2022

Our Tikkun Olam Volunteers and Project Leaders had a wonderful time assembling over 1500 packages containing over 15,000 items for communities in need on Sunday, November 13. Over 80 community members came together for the first time since the last Mitzvah Day two years ago, and all of them arrived ready to make a difference. The Tikkun Olam Committee is grateful to see so many temple members engaged with participating in tikkun olam.

This unique mitzvah received news coverage from CBS News New York, ABC 7, amNewYork, WPIX11, WFMZ, FOX 5/Good Day New York and WNBC. Click on the links below to read the stories and watch the videos.

The Tikkun Olam Committee would like to thank all volunteers who participated in Mitzvah Day, and the Project Leaders, who worked so hard setting up various projects and assisting volunteers at their Mitzvah tables. The Tikkun Olam Committee would also like to express their thanks to the amazing temple staff as, without their assistance, Mitzvah Day would have been impossible to achieve. A huge thanks to Mark Heutlinger, who is the glue that keeps this Mitzvah together. His continued guidance and support are appreciated.

Stay tuned for Tikkun Olam’s first SPRING MITZVAH DAY 2023!

Mitzvah Day Packages Arriving at the Mount Sinai Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Unit

On behalf of the whole Child Life Department, THANK YOU for these incredible Mitzvah Day packages. They are incredibly generous and I know they will be put to good use in our outpatient clinic and on our inpatient units. Please send our gratitude to the incredible group of children who put together the kits.
