Tikkun Olam & Streicker Center Celebrate Sukkot
In honor of Sukkot, and in the spirit of giving, the Tikkun Olam Committee and Streicker Center organized a sweet and educational community trip on Sunday, September 19.
The first stop? The Orchards of Concklin, where the descendants of a single family have been growing apples for more than ten generations. Over 550 pounds of apples were picked to be donated to the Bowery Mission before a picnic lunch with freshly-pressed cider and cider donuts. After lunch, the group visited a kosher beehive and – dressed in full beekeeper gear – learned how bees make honey, as well as its Jewish significance.
Over 30 Temple Emanu-El members of all ages participated in this adventure. View the photo gallery below!
