For more than 30 years, DOROT has helped older adults recover from homelessness, get back on their feet, and remain stably housed. Our Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP) is a transitional housing residence that provides short-term housing, meals and social services, along with relocation assistance. A unique component of our model is the Aftercare Program—which fosters a supportive community and provides clients with ongoing services after they’ve moved into permanent housing, thereby preventing returns to homelessness.
Both residents and Aftercare clients enjoy a range of socializing opportunities and activities, including shared dinners, activities and group outings. Clients remain engaged in meaningful ways, building a community where one did not exist previously. HPP assistance is available to individuals aged 60+ who are homeless or who are facing homelessness.
In celebration of the harvest festival of Sukkot and to help alleviate hunger, we are asking for donations of nonperishable meals to assist HPP residents who are food insecure. For just $16.15, you can provide multiple meals to an HPP resident. All suggested items can be found on Amazon, and we please ask that you not deviate from the following menu:
