Cantor Mo Glazman brings a rare blend of musical artistry, spiritual depth, and thoughtful leadership to Temple Emanu-El. With a voice praised by New York Jewish Life as “a wonderful tenor and star attraction,” he has earned recognition not only for his vocal talent but also for the warmth and sincerity he brings to the pulpit.
Cantor Glazman has appeared in concert settings across North America, Europe, and Israel, performing with ensembles such as the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Salome Chamber Orchestra, and the Westchester Chorale and Orchestra. His work has taken him to Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, the National Opera Center, and Merkin Hall, among other venues, as both a soloist and collaborator. While these stages are noteworthy, he approaches each performance as an opportunity to connect more deeply—with music, tradition, and community.
A graduate of McGill University, Cantor Glazman received his Master of Sacred Music and cantorial ordination from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. For his graduate recital, he created and performed an original musical based on the life and work of Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt, blending history and narrative with a personal reverence for cantorial tradition.
Before joining Temple Emanu-El, he served as senior cantor at Central Synagogue in Manhattan and Congregation Kol Ami in White Plains, NY. In each setting, he focused on building inclusive musical programs that brought together people of all ages and backgrounds. An instrumentalist as well as a vocalist, he conducts choirs, leads ensembles, and plays both violin and guitar.
Cantor Glazman’s musical language spans Jewish liturgy, Broadway, classical, and folk traditions. His projects have included Soul on the Seventh Day, a recording that explores the intersection of Jewish prayer and soul music, and One Voice, a collaborative album that brought together cantors from across the denominational spectrum in a shared celebration of Jewish unity. His work is grounded in a belief that music—at its best—opens doors: to memory, to meaning, and to one another.
In 2023, Cantor Glazman helped co-lead Shabbat on Broadway, a joyful prayer service held at the St. James Theatre. The gathering, which brought together Jewish performers and audiences from across the city, reflected his deep commitment to creating sacred spaces wherever people come together in song.
At Temple Emanu-El, Cantor Glazman continues to shape a musical and spiritual life that is as resonant as it is rooted—drawing on tradition while inviting fresh expressions of Jewish identity, community, and prayer.
