Sh-mini Atzeret/Simchat Torah

September 30 — October 1, 2018

Sh’mini Atzeret is a solemn time for reflecting on the seven previous days of the festival of Sukkot. There is also a Yizkor service, one of the four times during the year when we mourn together and recite the memorial prayers in remembrance of those whom we have loved and lost.

We end the week of Sukkot with a Family Simchat Torah service. Hebrew for “Rejoicing in the Law,” this service is a joyful celebration, where we unroll the Torah together as a congregation, offer a blessing to our new Religious School students, and gather for dinner afterward.

For 5779, Temple Emanu-El offers three services during Sh’mini Artzeret/Simchat Torah.
