Could YOU Be Ezra’s Hero?

temple Emanu-El’s Tikkun Olam Committee will be running a Bone Marrow Screening on Sunday, November 13, 2011, during Mitzvah Day in partnership with Gift of Life.

Could YOU be Ezra’s hero?

Ezra is 2 years old and loves the alphabet, music and his tricycle. Ezra is in need of a bone marrow transplant to survive. Ezra has a rare primary immune deficiency disorder called Hyper IgM Syndrome. Ezra’s best chance of finding a genetically matched donor lies with those of Eastern European ancestry, particularly Polish and Hungarian.

Testing is very easy: Potential donors will fill out consent forms, and representatives from Gift of Life will swab their cheeks — all in less than 10 minutes. There is no cost to volunteers.

Volunteers can be anyone between the ages of 18 and 60 and in general good health. Volunteers must be US residents.

Gift of Life will be swabbing volunteers in I.M. Wise Hall from 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM. Enter at the Marvin and Elisabeth Cassell Community House (One East 65th Street).

PLEASE NOTE: We will NOT be running a Blood Drive at Mitzvah Day 2011. However, we always encourage Temple members to donate blood through the NY Blood Center. Please use Temple Emanu-El’s donor number (2899) when you donate. Thank you!
