Temple Emanu-El celebrated Purim by giving the story of Esther
a fresh “Star Wars” twist and then gathering for a space-age Shushan celebration, better known as our annual Purim Carnival.

|“Dusk” at Emanu-El
More than 800 young professionals attended “Dusk” at Emanu-El, a meditation and dance experience aimed at engaging and inspiring not only young Jews but the greater community through faith, pluralistic prayer and music. (February 18, 2016)
|A Muslim-Jewish Dialogue
Temple Emanu-El Saviv — in partnership with the Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee — hosted a Living Museum at Temple Emanu-El, where our guests toured our Fifth Avenue Sanctuary and brought objects from home to teach each other about our cultures and traditions. A follow up to this event will take place on February 25, 2016, at the Islamic Cultural Center of New York. (February 4, 2016)
|Remembering Dr. King
To commemorate the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Temple Emanu-El hosts a special worship service on the Sabbath of Dr. King’s birthday. Our guests are the Reverend Dr. Calvin O. Butts III and the Abyssinian Baptist Church Choir. (January 15, 2016)
|Installation of Our Assistant Rabbi
Rabbi Allison Tick Brill was installed as our assistant rabbi in a service led by Rabbi Steven Mason, rabbi emeritus of North Shore Congregation Israel in Glencoe, Illinois, where she served as a rabbinic student. (December 4, 2015)
|M’Finda Kalunga Community Garden
Temple Emanu-El high school students and other volunteers organized by the Tikkun Olam Committee spent an afternoon working at the M’Finda Kalunga Community Garden on the Lower East Side, which serves as both a restful area and a source of food for low-income seniors and children. Upgrades to the garden were funded by a $5,000 donation made by Temple Emanu-El’s Philanthropic Committee through Citizens Committee for New York City. (October 18, 2015)
|An Iftar at Temple Emanu-El
Temple Emanu-El hosted its very first Ramadan celebration dinner, organized and sponsored by the NYC Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee. Approximately 200 Muslims and Jews came together to break the Ramadan fast, celebrate our religious traditions, and learn about the issues facing our communities. (July 15, 2015)

Temple Emanu-El joined in support of Autism Awareness Day and the start of Autism Awareness Month by lighting up its façade in blue along with more than 16,000 other buildings and landmarks in cities across all seven continents. (April 2, 2015)

As part of our ongoing effort to promote interfaith dialogue, Temple Emanu-El welcomed His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan to the Fifth Avenue Sanctuary bimah on February 20, 2015.
|The People vs. Abraham
On Sunday, November 16, 2014, the long-awaited biblical mock trial sponsored by the Temple Emanu-El Skirball Center was a rousing success, with more than 1,500 people fulfilling their civic duty as jury members for the day.
|Emanu-El Honors Rabbi Amy Ehrlich
In celebration of Associate Rabbi Amy B. Ehrlich’s 26th anniversay at Temple Emanu-El, the congregation donated $25,000 to build a school in Guatemala in her honor. (November 9, 2014)
