Praise for the Junior Choir

Read a letter from the
Carter Burden Center for the Aging.

The following letter was written
after the Junior Choir performance
at Temple Emanu-El on
Mitzvah Day 2009…

Dear Junior Choir,

as project leader for the “Bingo & Brunch” event on Mitzvah Day (Sunday, November 8, 2009), I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your participation.

You are the highlight of the day for many of the seniors from Carter Burden Center. They light up when they know you will be performing, and when you arrive, they start to smile. By the end of your performance, they are beaming from ear to ear, and they leave the Temple humming!

Among various comments I heard from them were:
  • “They [the Junior Choir] are really the reason I come.”
  • “I forget my aches and pains; their voices come from heaven.”
  • “They remind me of my grandchildren who live in California.”
  • “The songs remind me of my childhood and my parents and grandparents.”
  • “God Bless!”
We hope to continue this tradition of having you sing for us. Thank you!

And, please give a hand to Cantor Corrsin for all her hard work.

— Jill Blauner
