Directions & Parking


Temple Emanu-El is located on the Upper East Side of New York City, across from Central Park, on a site formerly occupied by the John Jacob Astor mansion.

We are within easy walking distance of the F, N, W, R, 4, 5 and 6 subway trains, as well as stops along the M1, M2, M3, M4, M18, M66, M72 bus lines. Several public parking garages also are located nearby.


DRIVING FROM NEW JERSEY:

Via George Washington Bridge—Follow signs from the GWB to Harlem River Drive. Take Harlem River Drive south; once past the Triborough Bridge, the road becomes FDR Drive. Exit at 71st Street. Follow 71st Street west to Fifth Avenue; turn left. Drive 5½ blocks south to Temple Emanu-El (on left).

Via Lincoln Tunnel—As you exit the tunnel, follow signs uptown to 42nd Street. Turn left at 42nd Street and right onto 10th Avenue. Turn right at 65th Street and follow 65th Street through Central Park. As you exit the park at 65th Street and Fifth Avenue, Temple Emanu-El will be on your left. Circle the block to arrive at the Fifth Avenue doors.


DRIVING FROM LONG ISLAND AND QUEENS:

Via Triborough Bridge—Take the FDR Drive south to 71st Street. Follow 71st Street west to Fifth Avenue. Turn left; drive 5½ blocks south to Temple Emanu-El (on left).

Via Midtown Tunnel—As you exit the tunnel, follow signs uptown. Take First or Third Avenue north to 66th Street. Turn left; take 66th Street west to Fifth Avenue. Turn left and travel ½ block to Temple Emanu-El (on left).





The cemeteries of Congregation Emanu-ElSalem Fields and Beth-El — straddle the border of Brooklyn and Queens and are located conveniently to Manhattan, Nassau County and Northern New Jersey.


DIRECTIONS TO THE CEMETERIES:

From Manhattan—Take the Triborough Bridge to the Grand Central Parkway; exit at the Jackie Robinson Parkway and proceed to the Cypress Hills Street exit. Make a left turn and continue approximately ¼ of a mile; turn right into the cemetery entrance at the corner.

From Brooklyn—Take the Jackie Robinson Parkway and proceed to the Cypress Hills Street exit; make a right turn and continue approximately ¼ of a mile; turn right into the cemetery entrance at the corner.

From Queens—Salem Fields and Beth-El cemeteries are conveniently located to Jamaica Avenue, Woodhaven Boulevard and Queens Boulevard.

From New Jersey—Take the George Washington Bridge to Harlem River Drive to the Triborough Bridge; follow directions from Manhattan.

From Nassau County—Take Northern State Parkway to the Grand Central Parkway; exit at the Jackie Robinson Parkway and proceed to the Cypress Hills Street exit. Make a left turn and continue approximately ¼ of a mile; turn right into the cemetery entrance at the corner.
