Shabbat Shira (Sabbath of Song)

Shabbat Shira is celebrated on the Sabbath of the Torah portion B'shalach. This year's program will feature our new cadre of instrumentalists, along with solo vocalists and our extraordinary choir, pulling inspiration from the secular and the religious, the classical and the contemporary, the composed and the improvised.

Shabbat Shira Family Dinner

Immediately following the Shabbat Shira (Sabbath of Song) service in the Fifth Avenue Sanctuary, Religious School families and teens are invited to a Sabbath dinner where we will be honoring our Religious School faculty. Activities for children will be offered. Reservations are required.

Havdalah Pajama Party

There is no charge for this event, but reservations are requested

Families with young children: Say farewell to Shabbat through songs, stories and hands-on crafts activities at this special Havdalah service. Participation is open to all temple families and friends with children in Pre-Kindergarten through Second Grade. Wearing pajamas is encouraged but not required. A light dinner will be served.

Take a short break from your weekly routine and allow yourself to be immersed in the treasures our tradition offers. Tot Shabbat is a special Sabbath service geared specifically for preschool and Nursery School students and their families. RSVP by February 8.

Interfaith Celebration

On Friday evening, we welcome the Rev. Dr. Scott Black Johnston and members of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church for services, followed by dinner and conversation.

Family Dinner & Shabbat Kodesh Service

$55 per family by February 5, $15 for teens

At Shabbat Kodesh, we sing Hebrew prayers with lively melodies and experience the weekly Torah reading through interpretation and storytelling. The service is preceded by a family dinner at 6 PM, for which a reservation is required. All temple families are welcome to attend.

Congregational Megillah Reading...With a Twist!

Baby Shabbat

Baby Shabbat is a 30-minute program designed for younger siblings of Nursery School children, although all children younger than 33 months are welcome to attend. Enjoy the company of other families as we anticipate Shabbat with music, blessings and a taste of challah.

Passover Homebound Delivery

A mitzvah for temple members

Temple members are needed to pack and deliver Passover meals to the homebound. Packing begins at 9 AM; drivers should report at 9:45 AM. (A continental breakfast will be served.)

To accommodate the first night seder, our service will be held at 5:15 PM.

The name "Passover" derives from Moses' promise that God would "pass over" the homes of Israelites on the evening when firstborn Egyptians were to be slain (Exodus 12:23). Reform Jews celebrate Passover for seven days.

Second Seder for the Elderly

Second Seder is one of our longest running community service programs. It is staffed by dedicated temple members who volunteer their time to help make this evening possible. Volunteers must be temple members.

Annual Gathering of Remembrance (5778)

Tickets are required for entrance.

The Annual Gathering of Remembrance is a commemoration of the 6 million who died during the Holocaust. A limited number of tickets are available to temple members. To obtain tickets, temple members only should call Mark Heutlinger at (212) 507-9511. All others should call the Museum of Jewish Heritage at (646) 437-4227.

Shavuot Services and Confirmation (5778)

All are invited to Eve of Shavuot and Shavuot services. On May 20, we will celebrate with our high school students as they confirm Torah's place in their identity, followed by a family assembly for the last Sunday of Religious School and brunch for Confirmands. May 20 also is a Yizkor service.
