Reconciliation and Forgiveness: Bereaved Israeli and Palestinian Parents for Peace

Between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the season of reconciliation and forgiveness, join Temple Emanu-El for a moving Shabbat Shuvah service with representatives from The Parents Circle, an organization consisting of more than 600 Palestinian and Israeli families who have lost loved ones during the Middle East conflict but remain committed to finding a path out of violence.

Donations of gently used coats, jackets, hats, scarves and gloves (no other clothing, please) will help to make the decision an easier one. Collected items will benefit New York Cares. Donations may be dropped off at either One East 65th Street or 10 East 66th Street.

As part of our High Holy Days celebration, we once again will offer a Shir Chadash service for each holiday. These services feature a contemporary liturgy interspersed with Chasidic tales and other teachings. The music, led by a vocalist and instrumentalists, is informal and participatory. Tickets for temple members are available at no additional charge.
