When the interior space of Emanu-El's Sanctuary was planned, stained glass was selected as the most appropriate material to create an awe-inspiring and meditative atmosphere. The Temple and Chapel contain 62 stained-glass windows. Their design is rooted in ancient Jewish artistic traditions and incorporates tribal symbols and biblical images. Each window was dismantled so that every pane could be examined. Broken glass was repaired and weakened lead was replaced. The removal of accumulated debris has returned our windows to their original radiance.
